I graduated with my BA from Goddard College at 19, the youngest student ever to graduate from the school. My focus was in filmmaking, a continuation of a passion that began when I got my first Hi8 DV camera at 8 years old.
My thesis project was a short film titled “Tolkien’s Road.” A 35min. fantasy film about famous author J.R.R. Tolkien’s journey overcoming the trauma of WWI and beginning to writing his first novel “The Hobbit.” Over the course of his journey Tolkien comes face to face with characters from his books who help him move past the death of his friends during the war.
I love to tell stories about soul searching characters in extraordinary circumstances. So naturally I have a deep fondness of fantasy and sci-fi. I love to see sci-fi and fantasy films with strong characters dealing with inner turmoil. To my mind an extreme setting or premise, if implemented properly, can only serve to make the transformation of the characters more dramatic.
